When applied by spraying, it provides long-lasting protection without changing the surface color, hand feel, or breathability of the treated material. Application Method

1. Pre-treatment & Preparation

Before use, the product may be pre-diluted with a suitable solvent to achieve the desired performance. The type, grade, and ratio of solvent will affect solubility and final water/oil repellency. Always test compatibility and solubility before use.

2. Application Equipment

Standard spray equipment can be used. Ensure the spray area is equipped with exhaust ventilation.

3. Spraying Procedure

  • Apply evenly by spraying two cross-coats (cross-spray pattern).
  • Typical consumption of diluted DTM4800 is approximately 10–12 g per square foot.
  • Recommended diluents: petroleum ether (boiling point above 100°C), butyl ester, or dimethyl ester. Petroleum ether is commonly preferred for its lower cost and acceptable odor.

4. Drying

  • Room temperature drying is recommended.
  • Maximum performance is typically reached after approximately 12 hours at an ambient temperature of 26°C.
  • When used immediately after application, performance may reach approximately 80% of the maximum level and continue to develop over time until the intended performance is achieved.
