Product Information

ADM-666 Water Repellent Agent for Textile Fabrics

ADM-666 is a water-based fluoropolymer emulsion designed for textile water-repellent finishing. It provides water and oil repellency while helping maintain fabric breathability. Suitable for polyester, nylon, polyester/cotton blends, and particularly cotton fabrics, ADM-666 is designed to provide long-lasting protection with minimal impact on fabric hand feel and color fastness when properly applied.

Suitable Textile Applications

ADM-666 is suitable for water-repellent finishing of polyester fabrics, nylon fabrics, polyester/cotton blends, and particularly cotton fabrics. The recommended dosage may vary depending on fiber composition, fabric construction, cleanliness, pH conditions, and the required water-repellent and wash-durability performance.

Application Method

1. Fabric Preparation

For optimal water-repellent performance, remove residual wetting agents, dyeing auxiliaries, sizing residues, softeners, and other surfactants before treatment. Fabrics should be properly prepared and maintained under suitable processing conditions before finishing.

Raising and sanding processes should generally be completed before the water-repellent treatment. Mechanical finishing processes such as calendering, glazing, or brushing may be carried out after drying and before final curing, depending on the production process.

2. Preparation of the Working Solution

Add the required amount of ADM-666 to a clean mixing container. Slowly add water while stirring at low speed for approximately 5–10 minutes until the solution is evenly mixed. Avoid excessive foaming.

When ADM-666 is used together with crosslinkers, penetrating agents, wrinkle-resistant resins, or other textile auxiliaries, compatibility testing is recommended. Each component should be diluted separately before mixing to reduce the risk of instability.

3. Typical Application Conditions

  • Application Method: Padding process
  • Pre-Drying: 110–130°C
  • Curing: Approximately 170°C for 1 minute

Laboratory and production conditions may require adjustment according to the fabric type, equipment, and required performance.

Recommended Dosage

The recommended dosage may vary depending on the fabric composition, construction, cleanliness, processing conditions, and required water-repellent and wash-durability performance.

Fabric Type Typical Dosage
Polyester 8–20 g/L
Nylon 5–20 g/L
Polyester/Cotton Blend 20–50 g/L
Cotton 30–50 g/L

Processing Considerations

  • Test compatibility with other textile auxiliaries before large-scale production.
  • Stir the working solution slowly and thoroughly to avoid excessive foaming.
  • Fluoropolymer water-repellent treatments may cause slight shade changes on certain dark-colored fabrics. Conduct preliminary testing before production.
  • Ensure sufficient curing to achieve the intended water-repellent performance. Processing conditions may need to be adjusted according to the equipment used.
  • Use the prepared working solution within approximately 12 hours. If stored longer, verify its performance before use.
  • Maintain appropriate ventilation during processing and avoid prolonged contact with the product.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Choose the Right Waterproofing Agent for My Application?

The appropriate product depends on the substrate material, processing method, required water-repellent performance, end-use conditions, and any additional requirements such as appearance, breathability, or subsequent processing. Our technical team can recommend suitable products based on your specific application.

Will the Waterproofing Treatment Affect the Appearance or Feel of the Material?

The effect on appearance, color, surface texture, or hand feel depends on the substrate and product formulation. Many waterproofing treatments are designed to minimize visible changes, but compatibility should always be confirmed through a small-scale test before full production.

Can I Request a Sample for Testing Before Bulk Purchase?

Yes. We recommend evaluating product compatibility and waterproofing performance on your actual material and production process before large-scale use. Contact our technical team with your substrate and application requirements to discuss suitable products for testing.

What Textile Materials Is ADM-666 Suitable For?

ADM-666 is suitable for polyester, nylon, polyester/cotton blends, and other compatible textile substrates, with particular applicability to cotton fabrics. The recommended dosage may vary depending on the fiber composition, fabric construction, cleanliness, pH condition, and required water-repellent and wash-durability performance. Typical dosage ranges from 5 g/L to 50 g/L depending on the textile material and application requirements.

Will ADM-666 Affect the Fabric’s Appearance, Hand Feel, or Wash Durability?

ADM-666 is designed to provide durable water-repellent performance while maintaining the original hand feel and dyeing/rubbing fastness of compatible textile fabrics. However, final results may vary depending on the fiber type, fabric structure, dyeing process, and finishing conditions. Fluoropolymer-based water-repellent treatments may also cause slight shade changes on some dark-colored fabrics. A preliminary production or laboratory test is recommended before large-scale application.
